VenuesLive is looking for experienced Café Chefs to join our back of house team at Tom’s Kitchen. Located within the home of Queensland Ballet, Tom’s Kitchen is a vibrant all-day café offering a bold, produce-driven menu designed for both quick bites and leisurely brunches. With a focus on local ingredients and seasonal flavours, the café caters to everyone – from dancers and creatives to West End locals, professionals, and precinct visitors.
They key responsibilities of this position include:
- Preparation and service of high-quality premium cafe food for breakfast and lunch service.
- Assist with preparing food for functions and events.
- Ensure that all ingredients are fresh and meet the highest quality standards.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and ensure food safety requirements are met.
- Supervise other non-qualified members of the back of house kitchen team.
- Work closely with the Café Manager and Head Chef to ensure that the café menu remains seasonal and on trend.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to bring with you:
- Trade qualifications in Commercial Cookery
- Proven experience in a similar busy cafe environment
- Creative drive to produce high quality premium café menu items
- Robust verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent personal presentation, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
In addition to the above criteria, attention to detail, a customer focus, high levels of energy, willingness to work flexible hours across a 7 day roster (which includes weekend work) and a positive ‘can do’ attitude, is what is required to successfully undertake this position.
