We are seeking an experienced Chef to join the team at Cafe Aroma Craigieburn to start from mid September. This is a full-time position based in Craigieburn, offering an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic hospitality environment where culinary excellence and creativity are valued. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen standards, and contributing to an outstanding experience for our customers.
This is a hands-on position that combines technical skill with passion for food preparation and kitchen operations.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking dishes according to established recipes and culinary standards, ensuring consistency and quality
- Managing food preparation stations and maintaining organisation and cleanliness of the kitchen workspace
- Following food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling and storage of ingredients
- Managing baine marie planning and creating dishes that showcase your culinary creativity
- Monitoring stock levels and liaising with management regarding ingredient orders and inventory management
- Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely meal service
- Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff where applicable
- Maintaining cooking equipment and reporting any maintenance issues promptly
- Adapting to varying service demands and adjusting preparation methods accordingly
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working in a professional kitchen setting, with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience as a Chef
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and culinary best practices
- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and dietary requirements
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise multiple tasks
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams
- Culinary qualification or formal training in cooking is highly desirable
- Demonstrated passion for food, culinary innovation, and continuous improvement
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen equipment safely
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by service schedules
