Join a growing Ballarat venue with a great team culture The Market Hotel Ballarat is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and team-focused Chef or experienced Cook to join our kitchen team.

Following significant investment in our venue and continued growth in our food trade, we are expanding our kitchen team as we increase our dining operations.

We are open to both part-time and full-time applicants and can offer genuine flexibility around hours and rostered days for the right person. Whether you are looking for approximately 20–30 hours per week or a full-time position, we are happy to discuss an arrangement that works for both you and the business.

About the Role

Working as part of our kitchen team, you will help deliver consistent, quality pub meals in a busy and welcoming local hotel.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, supports their teammates, and understands the importance of consistency, preparation, and organisation in running a successful kitchen.

Key responsibilities include:

- Preparing, cooking and presenting quality meals consistently

- Contributing to efficient lunch and dinner services

- Completing food preparation and kitchen duties to a high standard

- Maintaining food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards

- Assisting with stock control, rotation and minimising food waste

- Maintaining a clean, organised and well-prepared kitchen

- Communicating effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members

- Supporting other members of the kitchen team during busy periods

- Contributing ideas and positively participating in the continued development of our food offering

- Helping create a professional, respectful and enjoyable workplace culture

About You

We are looking for someone who:

- Has experience as a Chef or Cook in a pub, restaurant, café, or similar environment

- Has strong food preparation and cooking skills





- Takes pride in producing consistent, well-presented meals

- Understands food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements

- Is reliable, punctual, and well organised

- Can remain calm and work effectively during busy services

- Communicates well and enjoys being part of a team

- Has a positive attitude and is willing to contribute wherever required

- Is available across a combination of weekdays, evenings, and weekends

Formal chef qualifications are highly regarded; however, we are also happy to hear from experienced cooks with strong practical kitchen skills and the right attitude.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must

- Currently reside in Australia

- Have valid Australian working rights

- Be available to work a reasonable mix of evenings and weekends as part of the kitchen roster
