The District Council of Karoonda East Murray is located in the Murraylands region of SA, 150km east of Adelaide. The Council area covers 4,415 square kilometres with a population of approximately 1,100. Predominantly rural, with the main township at Karoonda and numerous smaller satellite towns, the land is used largely for agriculture, particularly grain growing and wool production.
A unique opportunity now exists for an inspiring and driven leader to take on this exciting role in this convenient country location.
As Council’s new CEO, you will collaborate, mentor and develop the Leadership Team and inspire the workforce, whilst connecting closely with and delivering for the community.
Key measures of success will include:
- Overseeing the delivery of timely and quality core Council services;
- Reviewing, developing and implementing the Strategic Plan;
- Promoting strong governance and ensuring legislative compliance;
- Ensuring the ongoing financial sustainability of Council;
- Successful asset and infrastructure management of and delivery of projects and capital works programs;
- Providing positive and effective staff leadership fostering teamwork,
innovation and flexibility;
- Proactive and ongoing involvement in community and stakeholder engagement;
- Ensuring Council is provided with regular and relevant information to assist decision making.
A proven CEO or ready aspirant, you will have extensive senior management experience gained from working in local government or a community based and/or multi - faceted service delivery focused organisation. A long-term commitment to the role and region is key.
Ideally tertiary qualified, the new CEO will possess outstanding communication skills in all settings, will be highly driven, well networked, and be an inspiring people and change leader. Further, they will have high levels of adaptability and innovation, a can-do attitude, problem solving and effectively balance operational delivery with strategic direction.
Local housing can be negotiated if required, or there is flexibility to live within a reasonable proximity to the council region.
