EML

Sydney

EML is a leading Workers Compensation and Personal Injury Claims Management business. Our goal is to help people get their lives back through ongoing support during their return-to-work journey. We continue to experience ongoing growth and now have over 4,000 dedicated employees. We foster a learning culture that allows for us to continually invest in our employees ensuring a long-term career here at EML.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our Sydney Claims Treatment Team in this newly created specialist role, where you'll combine your clinical or rehabilitation expertise with strategic advisory support to improve recovery and return-to-work outcomes for workers following psychological injury.

This role is ideal for a registered psychologist, provisional psychologist, rehabilitation consultant or mental health professional looking to apply their clinical knowledge within a personal injury setting. We are particularly interested in professionals who have worked directly with treating clinicians and understand how evidence-based treatment programs support recovery.

Working closely with claims stakeholders and treatment providers, you will provide credible clinical and treatment guidance on psychological injury management, diagnosis, treatment planning and recovery pathways. A key part of the role is building respectful clinician-to-clinician relationships and using your clinical knowledge to have constructive conversations about treatment direction and recovery.

You will have an understanding of evidence-based psychological treatment approaches, including CBT and DBT, and be comfortable reviewing treatment plans to determine whether they are appropriate, targeted and aligned with recovery goals. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions, deliver clinical education and capability uplift initiatives, and influence best-practice approaches across psychological claims management.

This will be a full time contract to December 2027 position based in our Sydney office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week) considered from month three, subject to performance and approval.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Engage with GPs, treating psychologists and other treatment providers to support appropriate diagnosis, treatment planning and recovery outcomes.
- Complete file reviews and provide clinical and treatment-focused advice on treatment progress and recovery.
- Review treatment approaches, including CBT and DBT-based interventions, against evidence-based practice and recovery goals.
- Identify the need for additional medical opinions or services, such as Independent Medical Examinations.
- Work collaboratively with treating clinicians and rehabilitation providers to identify barriers to recovery and support appropriate treatment pathways.
- Deliver training, coaching and education to internal and external stakeholders to support best-practice psychological injury management.

ABOUT YOU

- A relevant qualification and professional background in psychology, mental health, rehabilitation or a related discipline. Current AHPRA registration is required for psychologists.
- Understanding of evidence-based treatment programs and mental health interventions, including CBT and/or DBT approaches.
- Psychologists may be general or provisional psychologists, with longer clinical experience highly regarded.
- Experience as a rehabilitation consultant or working within an occupational rehabilitation or injury management setting will be highly regarded.

- Experience working with treatment programs and mental health interventions, including an understanding of CBT and/or DBT approaches.
- Strong understanding of disability, injury management and recovery principles.
- The ability to engage respectfully and confidently with clinicians, treatment providers and other stakeholders, including having constructive conversations about treatment direction and recovery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Personal injury or workers compensation experience is desirable but not essential.
