Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Paediatric Clinical Nurse Educator to join the Virtual Emergency Department.

About Northern Health: Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north. Services are provided through our five main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role: Exciting opportunities exist for experienced Clinical Nurse Educatorto join the Virtual Emergency Department (VED)at Northern Health. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that flourishes on innovation and ideas. The VED is a 24-hour service providing video consultations to patients and Healthcare professionals within Victoria.

The Virtual Registered





Nurse is responsible for providing timely patient assessment and triage of adult and paediatric patients and providingappropriate healthcare advice in line with the relevant scope of practise and initiate appropriate referral pathways.

The Clinical Nurse

Educator (CNE) is an important leader within the Virtual Emergency Department (VED), and a role model of excellence in clinical practice and life-long learning.The core role of the educator is to facilitate learning. Learners may be students, clinical staff, clients or other staff members.TheCNE positionfocus’ on various roles and responsibilities, which may include management, professional development, mandatory training, or teaching.This also includes supervision, mentoring and coaching of Clinical Support Nurse team, staff and learners within the VED to ensure protected and high-quality patient care. Onsite requirements at Northern Health, Epping are required at times to facilitate in-person education.

The paediatric CNE will strongly focus on all education related to paediatric care in VED as part of the wider VED CNE team. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The role has a minimum EFT of 0.8.

Work from home set up must be supplied by the individual, and is subject to meeting IT requirements and approval of OHS and must include: Minimum of 2 connected screens monitors

Access to make phone calls To be successful in this role you will have: A minimum of 5 years post registration experience as a Registered Nurse





Must have current or recent experience working in a critical care or education nursing environment

Graduate Diploma or Master’s degree in relevant specialty (education, paediatrics and/or critical care), or working towards

Demonstrates advanced criticalthinking skillsto determine safe and accurate patient triage category and plan of care
