About Us:
Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria's newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.
PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne's north and west. We exist to walk alongside young people, their families, carers, supporters and kin delivering care that is accessible, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed, and grounded in lived experience. The Opportunity:
The Department:
The Youth Mood Clinic (YMC) provides treatment to young people who are experiencing severe mood disorders. Many of these young people also experience complex co-morbid mental ill health such as OCD, severe anxiety, and neurodiversity.
The Role:
The Clinical Specialist is a key position within PYWMHS supporting a sub-team within the Youth Mood Clinic (YMC) program.
The position provides clinical leadership, mentoring, training and supervision to a multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive case management and psychological interventions to clients accessing the Youth Mood Clinic (YMC) Stream.
The Clinical Specialist supports YMC clinicians in implementing one or more specialist clinical interventions within the mental health field, including psychological, family, domestic violence, alcohol and other drug, physical health, ultra-high risk for psychosis, neurodevelopmental and eating disorder interventions. This support is provided across primary, secondary and tertiary levels of care, and includes direct clinical work with clients and families, clinical supervision and mentoring, as well as staff education and training.
The YMC Clinical Specialist plays an important role in planning and developing services for young people and their families that reflect best practice standards and evidence-based care, while aligning with the strategic direction and vision of PYMHWS.
About You:
A mental health clinician who is passionate about early intervention and evidence-based care for young people experiencing severe mental health difficulties including personality disorders.
✔️ Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 5 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker Grade 5 and Psychologist Grade 4
✔️ Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
✔️ A minimum of 10 years' experience in the application of clinical practice in the mental health field and specifically with young people experiencing mental health disorders.
✔️ Experience in clinical assessment, risk management, and delivering specialist interventions for complex depression and anxiety
✔️ Background in team support and supporting service development
✔️ Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
✔️ Motivated by youth-focused, inclusive,
and recovery-oriented care
