Commercial Governance Manager | Energy Transition | Financial & Contract Performance The role

Our client is an established financial institution supporting investment in major renewable energy, storage and network infrastructure projects.

Operating at the intersection energy transition and investment banking, the organisation manages a sophisticated portfolio of financial arrangements that underpin Australia's energy transition.

This is a unique chance to join a high-calibre environment where financial acumen, strong governance and executive stakeholder management are equally important. You will gain exposure to complex energy and infrastructure investments while working with sophisticated counterparties and stakeholders across the financial, commercial and energy sectors.

This is not a traditional construction contracts, procurement or deal-making role. The focus is on ensuring complex commercial and financial contracts are accurately executed, monitored and governed throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor contractual obligations, milestones, financial arrangements and counterparty requirements
- Interpret complex contractual provisions and translate them into clear actions and processes
- Maintain accurate contract records, registers, systems and reporting
- Identify contractual, financial and compliance issues and ensure appropriate follow-up and escalation
- Coordinate with external counterparties and internal legal, finance, commercial and governance stakeholders
- Produce clear, concise reporting and written briefings
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract management systems, processes and governance.

The role requires someone who enjoys detail and complexity, and can combine this with excellent judgement, communication and stakeholder management. Qualifications & experience

There is no single prescribed career path into this position.



Relevant experience could come from banking or institutional financial services, project or infrastructure finance, structured or trade finance, financial markets or middle-office operations, PPPs, commercial operations, governance, risk and compliance, energy or infrastructure.

You will ideally bring

- Experience working with complex contractual, commercial or financial arrangements
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to understand financial provisions within complex agreements
- Experience working in a sophisticated, regulated or highly governed environment
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a structured and process-driven approach
- Confidence working with systems, registers, controls, reporting and governance processes
- Excellent written communication and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to engage senior stakeholders and chase counterparty deliverables without damaging relationships

Energy or Infrastructure-sector experience is advantageous but not essential. The ability to understand complex contractual and financial structures is more important than prior experience with any particular type of agreement.
