This role sits across three diverse and complementary businesses - WA Utilities, WA Drilling and Yidarra Group, operating across civil construction, utilities, trenchless/HDD and local government contracts and project specific works.

As our Company Accountant,you’ll have the prospect to work closely with the Directors and operational leaders across all three businesses. It’s a broad and influential role combining hands-on accounting with commercial insight, management reporting and involvement in the continued growth and development of the group.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Accountant to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across three trading entities. The role combines management reporting and commercial analysis with operational accounting, working closely with the Directors and operational teams. It suits someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership and is comfortable moving between management-level reporting and the practical day-to-day financial requirements of growing businesses.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare monthly management reports and commentary for each entity and the group.
- Provide variance analysis and contract profitability reporting.
- Assist with budgets, forecasts and rolling cash flow reporting.
- Complete month-end and year-end close across three entities.
- Prepare balance sheet and bank reconciliations and reconcile intercompany accounts.
- Maintain work in progress and accrued revenue to ensure revenue is recognised in the correct period.




- Prepare and submit customer progress claims in line with contract terms and due dates.
- Administer subcontractor claims, retentions and statutory declarations.
- Own accounts receivable, including invoicing accuracy, debtor ageing and collections.
- Review supplier payment runs prepared by the Accounts Officer for Director authorisation.
- Process payroll, including allowances and overtime, and meet superannuation obligations.
- Prepare BAS and PAYG information for review and lodgement.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare year-end working papers for the external accountants.
- Support tender pricing and project costing.
- Improve finance systems, processes and Excel-based reporting.
- Support and work closely with the part-time Accounts Officer.
- Perform other finance duties as reasonably required.

Skills & Experience

- Accounting or commerce degree, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- At least five years’ hands-on accounting experience covering the full monthly cycle.
- Strong management accounting skills and the ability to clearly explain financial results to non-finance managers.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with MYOB or similar accounting software.
- End-to-end payroll processing experience.
- Well organised, self-directed and able to manage competing deadlines.
- Construction, civil or utilities experience, including familiarity with progress claims and work in progress, would be highly regarded.
- Experience working across multiple entities would be an advantage.
