Do you have experience undertaking investigations, interpreting legislation and confidently handling animals in the field? As a Compliance Response Officer, you will deliver exceptional customer service, undertake detailed investigations, respond to animal management matters, and contribute to a cohesive, high-performing team.

You'll work across a diverse and fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities while remaining adaptable and solution focused. This position plays a vital role in supporting high quality compliance outcomes for residents in our Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI), North Stradbroke Island and Coochiemudlo Island communities.

Your responsibilities will include: Educating the community on Local Laws and relevant State legislation.

Conducting investigations and inspections into compliance matters, including animal management matters and dog attacks, across island and mainland locations.

Safely and confidently handling impounded, stray, restricted and regulated animals in accordance with legislation, procedures and animal welfare requirements.

Preparing clear reports, evidence and notices to support enforcement action.

Monitoring and mentoring weekend Officers to support service delivery and operational consistency.

Managing competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Working collaboratively as part of a high-performing team and contributing to continuous improvement.

Skills and experience: Strong customer service, communication and conflict-resolution skills.

Experience engaging with the community to educate, advise and support compliance.

Proven ability to conduct investigations, gather evidence and prepare explicit written reports.

Sound understanding of Local Laws and relevant State legislation (or the ability to learn quickly).

Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Resilience, adaptability and confidence working both independently and as part of a team.





Physical fitness to perform field-based duties safely and effectively.

Demonstrated confidence and experience handling animals, particularly dogs and cats, in a safe and controlled manner.

Experience in animal management, animal husbandry, animal welfare or a similar field will be highly regarded.

Eligibility: You'll hold a C Class Drivers Licence.

You'll have the ability to work flexible hours as required by operational needs, including weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis (penalty rates apply).

This position has been identified as an at-risk role for vaccine-preventable diseases.
