About the job The SA Water Field Operations team in Port Elliot are looking for their newest Field Technician to join their team. If you are a proactive individual who loves field-based work, getting the job done, and the excitement of no day being the same we would love to hear from you!

This is a agile role, that focuses on construction and maintenance, where you and your team will be responsible for delivering preventative, corrective maintenance, emergency response activities, and new construction projects.

About the Person

As a Field Technician you will bring your ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to working in the great outdoors in a hands-on role. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team. You will be driven to apply your problem-solving and decision-making skills on complex water systems, striving for optimal outcomes and resolution.

About Operations and Maintenance

Operations and Maintenance (O&M;) is where our essential services come to life. Our teams operate and maintain water and wastewater infrastructure right across South Australia, ensuring we continue to deliver services that communities rely on every day.





Working in O&M; means hands‑on, meaningful work running treatment plants, maintaining critical assets, responding to faults, and solving real‑world problems. Depending on the role, this may include rostered hours, on‑call responsibilities, or weekend work.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will

- Undertake construction, maintenance, and operational tasks on complex water and wastewater systems.
- Lead water and wastewater investigations, construction, commissioning, laying mains and connections.
- Undertake environmental reporting and acquire relevant permits and approvals.
- Perform manual handling tasks, working at heights and confined space work.
- Put safety above all else, taking responsibility for your safety as well as others.
- Use technology systems and programs in accordance with procedures, and complete electronic reporting.
- Deliver excellent customer service,



you will be representing SA Water in the community and strive to maintain a customer focused approach.
- Willingness to work on call (compensated)
- Occasional travel (allowances and compensation included)

Your success in this role will come from:

- Skilled in the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, small machinery and various static and mobile vehicles, plant and machinery
- Previous trade qualifications (desirable)
- Truck, excavator & traffic management tickets (desirable)
- Driver’s license (essential)
- White Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Available to participate in an on-call roster, and occasional overtime
