This is a strategically important leadership position responsible for the national delivery, governance and continued development of the organisation’s corporate secretarial services function.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee a geographically dispersed team and ensure clients receive consistent, commercially focused and technically accurate governance support.
Working closely with Partners and senior stakeholders, you will have the opportunity to influence national service delivery, strengthen operational capability and contribute to the continued growth of an established professional services offering.
About the Opportunity
- Provide national leadership and strategic direction for the corporate secretarial services function, ensuring consistent standards, accountability and professional excellence across multiple Australian jurisdictions
- Lead an established team of governance and corporate services professionals, providing clear direction, technical support, performance management and structured career development
- Partner with senior leaders and Partners to strengthen the organisation’s governance capability, respond to complex client matters and identify opportunities to expand the service offering
- Balance technical governance, people leadership, operational management and commercial responsibilities within a highly regarded professional services environment
- Influence the future direction of the national function by improving systems, developing scalable processes and embedding a culture focused on quality, collaboration and exceptional client service
Key Responsibilities
- Lead national resource planning, workflow management and service allocation to ensure client requirements are delivered accurately, consistently and within agreed timeframes
- Act as a senior subject matter expert on company secretarial, corporate governance and regulatory compliance matters, including complex or high-risk appointments, removals and corporate changes
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, ensuring services remain aligned with the Corporations Act 2001, ASIC requirements and the organisation’s internal risk, independence and quality frameworks
- Serve as a trusted adviser to Partners, clients and internal stakeholders by managing escalations, resolving sensitive governance matters and supporting proposals and broader advisory opportunities
- Oversee quality assurance, peer review, data integrity and continuous improvement while championing the effective use of CAS 360, ASIC registers and document management platforms
About You
- Significant experience across company secretarial services, corporate governance, entity compliance or regulatory advisory within an accounting, legal, consulting or broader professional services environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience,
with the ability to manage, motivate and develop professional teams operating across different offices, jurisdictions or service lines
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Australian corporate and regulatory frameworks, including the Corporations Act 2001, ASIC obligations and contemporary governance practices
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Accounting, Commerce, Corporate Governance or a related discipline, with Governance Institute of Australia qualifications considered highly desirable
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and commercial advisory skills, supported by sound judgement, exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality and risk management
