Online Juris Doctor - Unit Authoring and Design

VU is a dual sector University offering the ‘VU Block Model’, an Australian first where students focus on one unit at a time. Victoria University (VU) Online is seeking enthusiastic Business/Law academics and/or industry experts to author undergraduate unit (BEO2008 Banking Law) for the Bachelor of Business tailored for online delivery. This unit is currently taught face-to-face and requires an experienced Subject Matter Expert to develop and adapt curriculum for high-quality online delivery. As a Curriculum Writer, you will work closely with our Learning Design Team to develop:
- 1 Unit Blueprint (the unit outline, assessments, and rubrics).
- 6 Storyboards (the weekly topics/content with student activities).

These are the units that we are authoring:

1. LJD7001 Legal Research Methods and Statutory Interpretation
2. LJD7002 Australian Legal Systems
3. LJD7003 Criminal Law, Procedure and Reform

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

1. Masters degree, plus 5 years of relevant teaching experience and/or relevant qualified experience over at least the last 10 years OR a doctoral qualification (PhD) in Law or a Juris Doctorate. Practicing certificate preferred.
2. Demonstrated knowledge in any of the following areas:

- Legal research methods
- Statutory interpretation




- The Australian legal system
- Criminal law, procedure and reform

Desired

1. Experience designing and/or authoring units in higher education (online or blended learning preferred). A brief example of how you design student-centred learning in an online context.
