This is a rare opportunity to step into a hands-on security role within a centralised, multi-disciplinary Information Systems and Security team supporting nationally significant infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing

- Investigate, triage and respond to security detections, alerts and events across networks, systems and applications
- Assess severity, identify likely causes and determine appropriate response actions
- Contribute to security audits, assessments and penetration testing activities, working with stakeholders to define mitigations
- Support incident response and business continuity processes when security events require it
- Maintain and contribute to security policies, procedures and controls
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced security staff




- Collaborate with teams across the business to embed security into everyday processes
- Stay ahead of emerging threats, vulnerabilities and threat actor tactics, techniques and procedures

What You'll Need (Essential)
- Strong investigation and triage skills for security detections, alerts and events
- Comprehensive understanding of networking, protocols and firewalls
- Solid experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
- Significant experience with cyber security systems, services, tools and technologies
- Comprehensive knowledge of threat actor tactics, techniques and procedures
- Significant experience with frameworks such as ASD ISM, NIST CSF, ISO 27001 and MITRE ATT&CK;
- Experience contributing to and maintaining security policies, processes and controls
- Solid experience with incident response and business continuity planning
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong documentation habits
- Ability to work independently, manage a steady workload and perform under pressure
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- A relevant certification such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP

Nice to Have
- Experience with Rapid7, CrowdStrike and Splunk
