About the role The role champions continuous improvement by enhancing procurement frameworks, streamlining tendering and contract management processes, and embedding consistent, best-practice approaches across the Department. It also promotes robust governance and risk management practices while supporting the ongoing maintenance of procurement standards and accreditation to deliver sustainable, high-quality outcomes.

A key focus of the role is developing procurement capability by leading and mentoring a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, and ensuring resources are effectively allocated to meet evolving business priorities and deliver successful procurement outcomes.

About you

We are seeking an experienced procurement professional with a strong background in Goods and Services procurement within large, complex organisations. Ideally,



you will have experience in government goods and services procurement, including all G&S; functions. You will be a strategic leader with proven experience building and developing high-performing teams, managing capability and capacity, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver complex procurement projects and whole of government contracts.

The successful candidate will bring strong commercial judgement, the ability to drive continuous improvement, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to strengthen procurement practices, improve project delivery, and produce high-quality procurement documentation, including briefing materials.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large complex team.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent procurement knowledge and experience.
- Hold a valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check).
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of public education.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC’s validity (up to 5 years). Interested?
