About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join the team at CSM Care PTY LTD. This is a part-time position based in Penrith, NSW. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, helping them to achieve greater independence, participate in community activities, and improve their quality of life.
This position is fundamental to our mission of delivering person-centred care and support services that make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities, including assistance with activities of daily living such as hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation
- Support clients in accessing community activities, social events, and recreational opportunities to promote social inclusion and independence
- Assist with mobility and transportation, ensuring clients can safely access appointments, services, and community facilities
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of client support provided, including progress notes and any changes in client needs or wellbeing
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other members of the support team to ensure coordinated and consistent care
- Promote and encourage client independence and dignity by supporting them to undertake tasks for themselves where possible
- Support clients with life skills development, including budgeting, meal planning, and household management
- Respond compassionately to client concerns and report any safeguarding issues or changes in health status to management immediately
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients in their homes or at community locations
What we're looking for
- Relevant qualifications such as a Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or Aged Care, or equivalent experience in providing support services. (Or Willing to obtain).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain this)
- Working with Children Check or Disability Inclusion Worker Check (or willingness to obtain these clearances)
- Demonstrated ability to work with empathy, patience, and respect towards individuals with varying abilities and support needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks, including manual handling where required
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with reliability and punctuality
- A commitment to person-centred care and promoting client independence and dignity
- Experience in the disability support, aged care, or community services sector is highly desirable
- A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport is preferred, as the role may require travelling to support clients in various locations
