Title: Disability Support Worker
Location: Hobart, Tasmania (Lutana, Howrah and Kingston)
Salary: $36.22 - $39.53 per hour (Level 2) plus 25% casual loading, super, and salary packaging
Employment Type: Casual
We are looking for passionate and adaptable Disability Support Workers to support children and adults accessing our respite services across Hobart.
Our respite services provide Short-Term Accommodation (STA), where clients can enjoy new experiences, participate in activities and spend time in a protected and welcoming home-away-from-home environment. We also provide Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) for clients who are transitioning towards independent living or returning home following a hospital stay.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centred and trauma-informed support tailored to each client's individual needs, interests and NDIS goals The role can be incredibly rewarding as you are an integral part of their journey towards 'Better Days, Every Day'.
Skills and experience required to be successful in this role:
Respite is a varied and active environment, and you may support clients of different ages, abilities and support needs. This role is suited to someone who is flexible, calm and confident in adapting their approach to suit each person's needs.
Essential:
- Experience supporting children and adults in disability, aged care, community services, allied health or a similar environment
- Experience supporting children, including an understanding of and experience applying a trauma-informed approach
- Availability to work a minimum of three shifts per week
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends, mornings, evenings, and sleepovers
- Ability and willingness to travel between our respite services in Lutana, Howrah and Kingston
- Intermediate computer skills (ie: using Microsoft Outlook, documentation in a client management tool/CRM,
Carelink +).
- Working with Vulnerable People card
- NDIS Workers Screening Check / willingness to obtain
- Valid First Aid & CPR
- Valid Australian working rights
Highly regarded and desirable:
- A relevant qualification in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, Allied Health or Mental Health, or current studies towards one
- Auslan skills or a willingness to learn
- Experience supporting people with complex needs
- Willingness to work across different locations, environments and client groups
