Disability Support Workers — Build Real Independence with People Who Need You
Bundaberg, Hervey Bay & Surrounding Regional QLD | Rising Up Support Pathways (RUSP)— Registered NDIS Provider (40••••901)
The work that matters here:
Somewhere in our region tonight, a person with a disability is going to sleep in their own home, not a facility, not a hospital, their home, because someone showed up, learned their routine, respected their dignity, and helped them build the skills to live the life they choose through quality lead supports. That someone could be you.
At Rising Up Support Pathways, (RUSP) we support vulnerable people under the NDIS through SIL, ILO and in-home accommodation, community access, personal care and complex behaviour support. Since 2022 we've grown by doing one thing well. Human Centered Supportsgrounded in three values we actually live by:
- Joy
- Respect
- Independence
Who we're looking for: We're not hiring "shift fillers." We're building a small, capable team of support workers who bring something the textbook can't teach, lived understanding of what it takes to walk alongside someone through a hard day.
You'll probably recognise yourself in some of these:
- You've cared for someone in your own life: a parent, a sibling, a child, a neighbour, and learned that patience and presence matter more than perfection.
- You've been through something hard yourself, and it gave you a steadier read on other people's struggles.
- You believe people with disability have the right to choice, control, and even the right to fail and learn, and you can support that without taking over.
- You're the kind of person who writes the shift note properly because the next worker, the family, and the participant all deserve accuracy, not because someone's checking.
- You want to grow. The NDIS sector changes constantly,
and you see that as opportunity, not burden.
What you'll actually do:
- Deliver Human-centred support to participants in SIL, ILO, in-home and community settings, following their plan, respecting their choices and at times follow the behaviour support plans to aide in their lives, because they have live so far with more intensive struggles than others.
- Provide personal care with dignity and discretion, in and out of the home.
- Support meal planning and preparation in line with dietitian guidance or personal preference, using safe, hygiene practices.
- Enable community access: shopping, appointments, social connection, with integrity and respect for the participant's autonomy.
- Administer and document medication accurately, and escalate health changes promptly to Service Management and your fellow team to ensure we have the needs of the person we are supporting first.
- Apply restrictive practice, behaviour support and risk management frameworks correctly, with an open mind and know when to seek guidance or action accountable reporting to ensure the person supported is protected and you remain safe.
- Write clear, accurate shift notes and goal-progress reporting in our scheduling and Microsoft platforms to ensure that we are able to make, collectively informative decisions.
- Be reliable across the shift, mix: days, evenings, weekends and sleepovers.
What you need to start:
- Cert III Individual Support: held,
or commenced within 6 months of starting.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module and NDIS Worker Basic Support Modules completed (or before commencement).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Blue Card.
- Driver's licence and reliable transport.
- Confidence using Microsoft tools and our shift/scheduling software.
- Genuine availability for sleepovers, weekend and day shifts.
Higher qualifications and experience with complex participants are highly regarded. What RUSP gives in return:
- Mentorship from an experienced team that takes the NDIS Code of Conduct and our internal Conduct Requirements seriously, for the benefit of our participants supported within our community and also to show dedication towards being a team that values growth.
- Ongoing professional development as the sector evolves.
- A workplace where Joy, Respect and Independence apply to you as well as to our participants.
- Growth pathways as we expand our footprint as a Registered Provider in the regions, especially within the 2a module so your care, skill and experience, through life and also through completion of training will be well sought by our team.
Apply if this is you: Tell us briefly, about a time you supported someone through something difficult and what you learned from it, especially if it meant supporting that person through a very complex situation that required tact and use of safe supports or common sense. That answer matters to us more than a polished cover letter.
