About the role

We are seeking a reliable and conscientious Dishwasher to join the kitchen team at Mensa Dining Room and Bar in Kent Town, SA 5067. This is a full-time position where you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of our kitchen operations. As a dishwasher, you will be responsible for ensuring that all dishes, glassware, cutlery and cooking equipment are cleaned, sanitised and ready for use, supporting our chefs and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Key responsibilities

- Operating commercial dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely to clean dishes, glassware, cutlery and kitchen utensils
- Hand-washing delicate or specialised items that cannot be machine washed, ensuring they are thoroughly cleaned and properly dried
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the dishwashing area, including the sink, drains and surrounding work surfaces
- Sorting and organising clean dishes and utensils for convenient access by kitchen and service staff
- Monitoring and maintaining adequate supplies of cleaning chemicals and detergents
- Following food safety and hygiene protocols to prevent cross-contamination
- Assisting with general kitchen cleaning duties as required
- Reporting any equipment faults or maintenance issues to management promptly

What we're looking for

- Previous experience as a dishwasher or in a similar kitchen support role within a hospitality environment
- A solid commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy loads throughout your shift
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work consistently as part of a busy kitchen team




- Basic numeracy and literacy skills to understand instructions and follow procedures
- A willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen management
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times
- Food safety awareness and understanding of commercial kitchen practices (or willingness to obtain relevant certifications)
