Nestled in the heart of Bright, surrounded by the mountains of Mt Buffalo, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek, The Star Hotel is one of the town’s favourite meeting places for locals and visitors alike.

From lazy summer afternoons by the Ovens River to busy winter weekends and everything in between, Bright has plenty going on — and so does The Star.

We’re now looking for an experienced Duty Manager to join the team and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the hotel.

A bit about you:

We’re looking for a Duty Manager who is outgoing, relaxed and genuinely enjoys being around people. You’ll have solid pub or hospitality experience, a positive attitude and the confidence to take charge when things get busy.

- You’re hands-on and thrive on making things happen.
- You’re a natural leader who enjoys bringing a team along with you.
- You’re a great communicator and can handle whatever the shift throws at you.
- You’re proactive, resourceful and not fazed by the occasional curveball.
- You bring plenty of energy, a big smile and a genuine love of hospitality.
- You care about your team and your guests and want everyone to have a excellent experience.
- Gaming and TAB experience would be highly regarded,



although it’s not essential.
- Most importantly, you’re someone people enjoy being around — positive, personable and up for having a bit of fun along the way.

We can teach you the ropes — the right attitude is what matters most.

A bit about the role…

- This is a hands-on Duty Manager role overseeing all areas of the pub — from the bar and service through to the dining room.
- Be visible on the floor, lead the team and make sure every shift runs smoothly.
- Get involved in events, community activities and local initiatives — this is a pub that’s genuinely part of the Bright community.
- Help drive sales, manage costs and identify opportunities to improve the business.
- Develop, train and mentor the team, creating a positive, fun and enthusiastic working environment.
- Work closely with the wider leadership team to keep the pub moving forward.
