Are you an electrician who wants to use and grow your trade? Work across power generation, solar, off-grid, generators, pumps and water systems, on cattle stations and remote communities around the top of Australia. If you are a general sparky, we will teach you the rest, and we will also consider 4th-year apprentices keen to finish robust.

Who we are…

Q Energy and Q Water are sister businesses out of Mount Isa, keeping power and water running across Outback Queensland since 2007.

Q Energy handles the power side: generators, off-grid, solar, power generation, and electrical; Q Water keeps stock, stations, and communities watered: pumps, bores, reticulation, filtration, tanks, and troughs. You will work across both, so no two jobs are the same, and when the power or the water stops out here, it is a crisis, and we are the ones who turn it back on.

What you will do…

You will run jobs end to end across both businesses and the whole region: power generation, off-grid and solar systems, generators and licensed electrical work on the energy side; pump installs and servicing, stock-water and reticulation systems, filtration and treatment on the water side; and diagnosing and fixing whatever the country throws at you. You will make the call on site and bring our apprentice through behind you.

Jobs done on time and first time (we run at 95%, we want to keep it there), a callback rate under 5%, zero safety incidents, and clients, stations, communities and businesses who keep ringing us because you sorted them properly.

You will fit if you…





Hold a current electrical licence (or you are a 4th-year apprentice keen to finish strong with us), plus a driver's licence and White Card. You can work self-sufficiently hundreds of kilometres from the yard, back your own judgement and sweat the details. You must be willing to travel for work; some jobs are day trips, some are overnighters, it varies with the work, so you will want to be comfortable with heat, distance and the odd night away.

And the work is real: when you get the power or the water running, a family keeps its stock and its livelihood, and people remember who sorted them. You will also see parts of Australia that most people never will.
