Our story. It started with a family and their challenge to find disability support that worked for them. They needed more, and knew that people with disability could have more independence, choice and control in their lives. The Hireup purpose was born, and now we strive to enable the pursuit of a positive life for everyone.

What You’ll Do - Engineering Manager (Internal Systems)

Hybrid: Wynyard (Sydney) / Richmond (Melbourne)

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Internal Systems team. You will own the architectural health of our core platform engines, guide engineers through complex technical challenges, and directly identify and implement AI-enabled solutions that solve real operational friction.

You will work directly with engineers to evaluate technical trade-offs, foster cross-team alignment, and lead from the front in identifying how AI and automation can elevate our internal platform

Technical Leadership

- Lead Technical Direction & Architecture: Own the technical vision, architectural integrity, and platform health across our core internal systems and payment domain.




- Drive AI Integration & Enablement: Identify opportunities and lead hands-on initiatives to implement AI and automation solutions that eliminate operational friction.
- Bridge Teams & Connect Platforms: Build understanding across engineering teams, connecting complex backend systems to deliver cohesive, reliable platform infrastructure.
- Maintain Hands-on Engagement: Stay close to the code by participating in architectural designs, reviewing Pull Requests, and evaluating technical trade-offs alongside your team.
- Strategic Alignment: Partner with senior technology leadership to surface domain challenges and align squad execution with Hireup’s broader technical strategy.

People Leadership

- People Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers through impactful 1:1s, clear career pathways, and continuous growth conversations.
- Uplift Capability: Actively identify opportunities for engineering capability growth, guiding and leveling up the technical competency within your team.
- Delivery Accountability: Ensure the team delivers on agreed product outcomes efficiently while keeping team efficiency and quality metrics front of mind.

Your Background

- Engineering Leadership: Proven experience leading technical teams in complex domains, with a deep focus on architectural strategy, system design, and engineering quality.
- Practical AI Implementation: Demonstrated success identifying and implementing practical AI or automation tools to solve real-world technical and operational challenges.
- Hands-on Technical Depth: Capability to dive into technical discussions, evaluate system trade-offs,



and guide engineering strategy without needing external technical oversight.
- Mentorship & Team Growth: Passion for coaching engineers, building technical competency, and creating clear pathways for technical career growth.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent ability to articulate technical complexity to non-technical stakeholders and align technical strategy with business outcomes.
- Complex Domain Expertise: A background architecting or managing core platform infrastructure, financial systems, or high-throughput payment processing environments - Highly desirable
