About the Position

This fixed-term, full-time position (parental leave cover) is offered for the period 28 September 2026 to 1 October 2027.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Environment Officer to join our team and lead the delivery of innovative and impactful environmental projects. In this role, you will plan and implement on-ground initiatives, manage environmental grants, and coordinate community engagement activities such as workshops, events, and volunteer planting days. You will provide expert environmental advice to internal teams and stakeholders, interpret relevant legislation to support compliance and policy alignment, and represent the City in working groups, interagency initiatives, and community forums.

As a number of the City’s programs are delivered outside of normal business hours, the position requires some flexibility to deliver key events such as planting days, workshops and Council Briefings.

The successful candidate will contribute to strategic environmental planning documents, oversee procurement and contractor management,

About You

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Environment Officer to join our team and help drive meaningful environmental outcomes for the community. You’ll bring a positive friendly attitude to join a cohesive, high performing team. You’ll have a strong background in delivering on-ground projects, engaging with stakeholders, and providing advice on environmental policy and compliance.

Strong communication, project management, and community engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

You’ll need a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science) or equivalent qualification, and a Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one). If you're passionate about the environment and ready to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
