We're looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our Contaminated Land Management (CLM) team in Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse contaminated land and groundwater projects across New South Wales and nationally, helping clients understand, manage and remediate environmental risks. The role is suited to an environmental professional with at least 2 years' commercial experience who is looking to build technical expertise, strengthen project delivery skills and take the next step in their consulting career.
As part of our established multidisciplinary Environment business, you'll collaborate with experienced contaminated land specialists, geologists, hydrogeologists and environmental engineers to deliver innovative solutions for site investigation, environmental due diligence, risk assessment and remediation projects. Our work spans mining, petroleum-contaminated land, industrial facilities and government assets, supporting the rehabilitation and redevelopment of complex sites.
This role offers a balance of fieldwork, technical reporting, project coordination and client engagement, providing exposure to a broad range of challenging and rewarding contaminated land projects.
About The Role
As an Environmental Scientist,
you'll play a key role in delivering contaminated land investigations and remediation projects while developing your technical and project management capabilities. You'll work closely with experienced consultants and project managers, contributing to high-quality client outcomes across a variety of sectors.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Conducting contaminated land and groundwater investigations, including soil, groundwater and vapour sampling programs.
- Coordinating fieldwork activities, contractors and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant and high-quality project delivery.
- Interpreting environmental data and developing conceptual site models.
- Preparing technical reports, environmental assessments and remediation documentation.
- Assisting with project coordination, including budgets, schedules, scope and stakeholder communication.
- Applying environmental legislation, standards and contaminated land guidelines to project delivery.
- Contributing to proposal preparation and supporting business development opportunities.
- Mentoring graduates and supporting a strong culture of safety, quality and technical excellence.
About You We're seeking an environmental professional who combines strong technical skills with a passion for contaminated land management and delivering exceptional client outcomes.
You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 2+ years’ experience in contaminated land assessment, remediation or environmental consulting.
- Experience undertaking contaminated land and groundwater investigations and field programs.
- Understanding of contaminated land legislation, standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong data interpretation and technical report writing skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple project tasks while maintaining quality, safety and budget requirements.
- Experience supervising contractors, subcontractors or junior team members.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with clients and colleagues.
