Local Land Services is seeking an experienced policy leader to drive strategic policy and legislative reform that supports sustainable land management, natural resource outcomes and primary industries across New South Wales. In this role, you'll lead a small team, influence government decision-making and contribute to policy solutions that support landholders, industry and regional communities.

About the role

As Principal Policy Officer, you will lead the development and implementation of evidence-based policy and legislative frameworks across land management and natural resource management. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you'll provide strategic advice on complex policy issues and drive reform initiatives that deliver practical outcomes.

Key responsibilities include

- Leading policy, legislative and regulatory reform initiatives, focused on the NSW Plan for Nature and land management reform.
- Providing high-quality policy advice to senior executives, including technical advice regarding land management reform proposals.
- Preparing Ministerial briefings, submissions and strategic advice.
- Leading research, analysis and stakeholder consultation.
- Managing policy projects through government decision-making processes.
- Building strong partnerships across government, industry and the community.

About you You're a strategic thinker with strong policy expertise and the ability to influence outcomes in complex environments. You can analyse issues,



navigate competing priorities and build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

- Demonstrated experience in policy development, legislative reform or regulatory environments.
- Solid analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability.
- Experience preparing executive-level written advice and briefing materials.
- Proven ability to lead teams, projects and complex pieces of work.
- A commitment to evidence-based decision-making and public value outcomes

Essential requirements

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
- Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel as required
- Knowledge of the NSW land management framework and the Local Land Services Act 2013 is highly desirable.
