Ag Excellence Alliance

Adelaide

Ag Excellence Alliance (Ag Ex) is preparing for its next chapter.

Established in 2005, Ag Ex is South Australia’s peak organisation supporting grower groups through collaboration, project delivery, capacity building and industry engagement.

Ag Ex connects growers with research, innovation, industry, government and education partners, helping strengthen the productivity, profitability, sustainability and resilience of South Australian agriculture. Grower groups are at the heart of this work, providing the relationships, local knowledge and practical leadership that help turn research and new ideas into outcomes on farm.

As part of a planned evolution of its organisational structure, Ag Ex is seeking an experienced and collaborative Executive Officer to provide strategic leadership and operational management of the organisation.

Reporting to the Chair and accountable to the Ag Ex Management Committee, this broad leadership role encompasses governance, financial management, stakeholder engagement, project delivery, organisational improvement and the leadership of staff and contractors.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading implementation of the Ag Ex Strategic Plan and identifying emerging opportunities and risks.

- Providing strategic advice and supporting effective governance of the organisation.

- Leading day-to-day operations, organisational planning, reporting and risk management.

- Overseeing financial management, budgets, forecasts, project expenditure and funding agreements.

- Leading and supporting employees, contractors and project teams.

- Overseeing delivery of Ag Ex projects and ensuring funding, governance and reporting requirements are met.

- Building strong relationships with grower groups, government, research organisations, universities, industry, funding bodies and agribusiness.

- Acting as the principal representative and spokesperson for Ag Ex.

- Overseeing implementation of the Ag Ex Communications Strategy and strengthening communication with members and stakeholders.

- Identifying new funding opportunities, developing grant applications and building strategic partnerships.

About you

You will bring proven leadership experience, solid strategic thinking and the ability to work effectively with a Management Committee, staff, contractors and a diverse stakeholder network.

You will have demonstrated capability across governance, project delivery and financial management, together with excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills. Experience developing partnerships, grant applications and funding proposals is also important.

Knowledge of South Australian agriculture, grower groups and agricultural extension, experience working with government-funded projects and relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.

The position is part-time, averaging 15–20 hours per week, home-based in South Australia with regular intrastate and occasional overnight travel. There is potential for review and expansion of the role.

A competitive salary commensurate with the requirements of the role and the successful candidate’s qualities and experience will be negotiated.

Building on the past. Strengthening for today. Ready for the future.
