We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference.
Someone who wants to help shape contemporary, person-led practice. Someone who shares our commitment to human rights, quality of life, communication, autonomy, belonging and neuroaffirming support.
Microboards Australia is family-led, lived experience-led, neuroaffirming and neurodiverse. We are looking for people who think the way we do: that support should build a person’s voice, not manage their behaviour, and that quality of life is the true measure of good practice.
We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner with at least Proficient PBS capability who is ready to bring their own strengths, interests and ambition to the role.
Why Microboards is different
- Join a team that lives neuroaffirming practice. We are a genuinely neurodiverse team. Neuroaffirming practice is not only how we support people. It is how we work together.
- Learn from the experts shaping the field. Our supervision and mentoring model connects you with sector and university leaders in PBS and AAC, not only internal oversight.
- Be part of meaningful project work. We lead work in areas that matter deeply to people and families, including health literacy, relationships, complex communication, lived experience-led resources and practical tools that support people to have their own voice.
- Keep lived experience at the centre. Through Merger of Minds, our lived experience advisory group,
we co-design resources and practice alongside the people and families we support.
Bring your whole self We value more than clinical skill.
If you have strengths in training, mentoring, contemporary PBS thinking, complex communication, social media and communications, research, resource development, advocacy or community development, we want to know.
Every skill you bring is a skill we can put to work for people who need it.
For the right person, this role offers genuine opportunities to contribute to practice leadership, mentoring, innovation, co-design, service development and sector change.
What you will do:
You will work alongside people, families, supporters, providers and allied health professionals to build shared understanding and sustainable support.
The role may include:
- Behaviour support assessments, plans and reports
- Restrictive practice reduction
- Capacity building with families, supporters and providers
- Coaching, mentoring and collaborative problem solving
- Supporting communication, regulation, relationships, wellbeing and participation
- Contributing to projects, training, resource development and practice innovation
This is not about reproducing systems that have not worked well for people. This is about doing work that strengthens voice, choice, connection,
rights and quality of life.
What you will get
- 75-hour fortnight
- Hybrid work across home, office and community
- Full-time, part time or casual arrangements considered
- Salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
- Laptop and phone provided
- Individual and group supervision
- 50+ hours of professional development
- Genuine pathways into practice leadership, mentoring and service innovation
- A neuroaffirming and neurodiverse team culture
- Space to think, reflect, contribute and grow
We know good practice takes time. We aim to create workload expectations that allow for preparation, collaboration, documentation, supervision, reflection and meaningful work with people and their support networks.
What you will need:
- Registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
- At least Proficient PBS capability, with Advanced capability highly regarded
- A genuine commitment to person-led, neuroaffirming and rights-based practice
- Strong written communication skills
- Confidence to work independently, backed by a supportive team
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain
- Current Working with Children Check, where required
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Right to work in Australia
