Description:
The Façade Systems Technical & Compliance Manager for Compressed Fibre Cement (CFC) Cladding is responsible for leading the technical performance, compliance, installation methodology, and product development pipeline, onsite product observations for the company’s CFC cladding portfolio. This role provides expert guidance across engineering design, building code compliance, façade system integration, and onsite installation practices, ensuring products are protected, compliant, competitive, and optimised for market success.
The position collaborates closely with R&D;, product management, sales, marketing, and customers to deliver high-quality technical support and drive continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Product & System Expertise
- Act as the organisation’s subject matter expert in compressed fibre cement cladding, façade systems, and exterior building envelopes.
- Maintain deep knowledge of product properties, system assemblies, testing protocols, performance characteristics, and limits of application.
- Develop and maintain installation guidelines, technical manuals, CAD/Revit details, and specification resources.
- Provide informed technical recommendations to support refinement of specifications and testing outcomes, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements and best‑practice installation standards
1. Compliance & Standards
- Prepare and manage technical files, certifications, test reports, and compliance documentation to support project tendering and issue resolution.
- Ensure all technical manuals, installation details are up to date.
- Develop installation support tools to support installers build their knowledge and achieve best practice installation methods.
1. Technical Support & Advisory
- Provide high level technical support to architects, engineers, builders, installers, and distributors.
- Identify and review design and installation drawings early and guide key stakeholders on how to resolve identified issues.
- Identify and escalate technical, compliance, or installation risks that may expose the business to warranty, compliance, or reputational risk
- Perform detailed reviews of onsite issues, including installation errors, system failures, water ingress, movement, and compliance related concerns.
- Conduct onsite observations to identify root causes and provide recommendations for corrective actions and long term prevention.
1. Product Development & Innovation
- Work with supplier and R&D; to identify product improvement ideas, system improvements, and design enhancements on the CFC range of products.
- Contribute to product roadmaps based on market trends, building code developments, and customer feedback.
- Evaluate competitor systems and benchmark performance, cost, and installation methods.
1. Project & Stakeholder Management
- Work alongside the sales team to conduct onsite installation inspections, providing expert advice and reinforcing technical best practices.
- Assist sales teams in identifying risks, ensuring correct system selection, and supporting customer confidence through professional technical engagement.
- Review technical drawings, architectural details, shop drawings, and installation documentation to ensure compliance with product requirements and NCC/AS standards.
- Provide pre installation guidance to engineers, builders, installers, and façade contractors to ensure systems are installed correctly and efficiently.
- Liaise with external engineering consultants, testing laboratories, and regulatory authorities as required.
- Escalate situations where commercial priorities conflict with technical requirements to the leadership team for direction, ensuring that final decisions are made at the appropriate business level.
1. Quality Assurance,
Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Deliver Installer training sessions, toolbox talks, CPDs, and technical presentations to support proper installation of the Fairview range of CF products.
- Partner with Operations and Supplier to review production quality, tolerances, and material performance.
- Conduct audits of projects where cladding issues are present or suspected, documenting non conformances and providing actionable recommendations.
- Assist in quality investigations related to product performance, defects, or site failures.
- Implement corrective actions, product improvements, and installation best practices.
- Support continuous improvement across manufacturing, installation, and system design by identifying recurring issues and feeding insights into product development, technical documentation, and installation guidelines
1. Installation Sign Off & Warranty Approvals
- Conduct final inspections of completed installations, verifying adherence to product specifications, installation manuals, tolerances, and compliance guidelines.
- Exercise authority to withhold warranty approval and direct rectification actions where installations do not meet technical or compliance requirements, while coordinating with project stakeholders to ensure corrective measures are implemented. This role does not hold authority to stop onsite works.
- Issue final reviews and formal sign off prior to the release of warranty documentation, ensuring all conditions have been met.
Skills and Experiences:
ESSENTIAL
- 5–10+ years’ experience with façade or external wall systems in real projects, ideally including time spent supporting, inspecting, or resolving installation outcomes on construction sites.
- Experience in building product testing, certification, and compliance documentation.
- Background in fibre cement, façade engineering, or exterior cladding systems highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of compressed fibre cement cladding, façade engineering, and building envelope systems.
- Strong understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical schematics.
- Excellent problem solving and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
DESIRABLE
- Customer focused with the ability to engage and influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in CAD/Revit, technical writing, and documentation tools.
