Finance Business Partner
At Geosurv, we're recognised as a leader in integrated Surveying, Spatial & Digital Engineering and Utility Solutions. We work on some of New South Wales' largest infrastructure, transport and utility projects, delivering surveying, utility locating and mapping, non-destructive digging, asset investigations, pipeline maintenance and geospatial services.
We're looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our growing Utilities Network. This is far more than a traditional finance role. You'll be a trusted commercial partner, working alongside operational leaders to influence business performance, improve profitability and help drive strategic decision-making across a fast-paced project environment.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the General Manager (Utilities Network), you will take ownership of the financial performance of the division while partnering closely with project managers and operational leaders to deliver strong commercial outcomes.
You will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, project performance, financial reporting and commercial decision-making, helping shape the future growth of one of our largest business units.
If you enjoy being involved in the operational side of a business, influencing decisions and working closely with leadership rather than sitting behind a desk processing numbers, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
As the Finance Business Partner, you will:
- Partner with operational leaders to provide commercial advice and financial guidance
- Analyse project performance, profitability and financial trends
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and financial models
- Deliver weekly and monthly financial and operational reporting
- Monitor Work In Progress (WIP), project margins, labour recovery and utilisation
- Review contracts, pricing and commercial terms to identify financial risks and opportunities
- Support project managers with job costing and commercial decision-making
- Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll and month-end financial reporting for the Utilities Network
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and operational efficiencies
- Assist with the development of dashboards and reporting tools, including Power BI
About You We're looking for someone who combines strong technical finance skills with excellent commercial awareness and the confidence to influence operational stakeholders.
You will ideally have
- CA or CPA qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Accountant or Management Accountant
- Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities or qualified services
- Strong understanding of project accounting, Work In Progress (WIP) and project profitability
- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and financial models
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to partner with senior operational leaders
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting systems such as WorkflowMax, Xero or MYOB
- Experience with Power BI or financial dashboards (highly regarded)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights
Why Join Geosurv? At Geosurv, you'll join a business that's growing rapidly and investing heavily in its people, technology and future.
We offer
- Opportunity to partner directly with senior leadership and influence business decisions
- Diverse and interesting project environment
- Career development and progression opportunities
- Supportive, collaborative and high-performing team culture
- Exposure to some of NSW's most significant infrastructure and utility projects
- Modern office located in Kogarah with easy access to public transport
