Profectus is seeking an experienced Finance Lead to support the financial management and governance of a Tier 1 program of work within an Australian Government agency. Working alongside the Director Finance, Planning and Reporting, you will lead a small finance team to deliver sound internal financial management and develop the governance procedures and policies that support effective and productive delivery of the division's financial responsibilities. You will provide strategic financial advice on program funding, oversee budget and asset management, and support timely reporting to executive and governance committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a small finance team responsible for internal budget management, asset management, and external budget bids
- Provide strategic financial advice on Tier 1 program funding
- Support finance and management accounting processes across the program
- Deliver timely reporting to directors, executive staff, and governance committees to support their decision making
- Develop and maintain key internal and external relationships, liaising with stakeholders on policy, project, and operational matters
- Represent the agency at relevant meetings and forums
- Provide accurate, specialist financial advice
- Guide and report on team functional responsibilities
- Develop and maintain financial governance procedures and policies
- Support key financial activities across other Tier 1 programs
Required Experience
- More than 5 years demonstrated experience analysing and managing large, complex Tier 1 program budgets
- Proven experience delivering internal and external management accounting and project accounting functions, and providing financial advice to executive in a fast paced environment
- Experience leading a small team to deliver internal management accounting functions, including oversight of budget and program financial management
- Demonstrated experience in capital asset management and developing internal policies to support end of year financial reporting and statement development in line with relevant accounting standards
- Strong ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders and present financial data clearly and persuasively
- Demonstrated experience analysing and managing large, complex data sets to support budget and project financial management
- Experience setting accounting policies and priorities that deliver quality results on time
- Well developed organisational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to collate and analyse information from a range of sources and produce high quality documentation
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team, supervise staff, and identify training needs
- Relevant post graduate qualifications and/or professional accounting membership such as CPA or CA
Desirable Experience
- 20+ years of accounting experience across private and government sectors
- Experience managing enterprise and project management accounting functions to deliver general business and ICT budgets
- Experience supporting contract management functions and contractual development
- Good understanding of financial statement and asset management accounting practices
- Experience with a range of enterprise financial accounting systems and advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Adobe Pro, or other project software
Security Clearance Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must hold an active AGSVA NV1 security clearance
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid, with options across Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane
- Must be able to work to Canberra time
