Deck2 Capital

Sydney

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and trusted Finance & Tax Director to lead the tax and financial affairs of Deck2 Capital, a private family office that takes majority control positions in digital companies distributing insurance. We run these businesses through Cove, our wholly owned operating entity, applying a shared platform of technology, data, talent, and playbooks across each acquisition. This role works alongside our CIO and reports to the CFO and focuses on internal financial and tax operations, financing activities, and compliance and risk management.

This role will help shape long-term financing, cash flow and tax strategy and contribute to investment activities and portfolio reporting alongside Deck2’s management team, for a mix of actively managed multinational investments, direct early stage positions, and venture capital and PE fund investments. Location

This role is based in our picturesque office on the Manly harbourfront, located directly across from the ferry terminal for easy commuting. We’re an in-office workplace and ask that the team works in-person minimum 3 days per week. Key Responsibilities

Tax Strategy, Structuring and Estate Planning

Develop, oversee and lead family office tax strategy, in particular capital gains, in collaboration with external tax advisors, ensuring structural efficiency and compliance across multiple geographies and complex entity structures.

Support estate planning initiatives, including structuring, implementation, and ongoing management.

Advise on CGT planning and timing for domestic and international private company shareholdings, including valuation positioning ahead of key trigger or reporting dates.

Ensure alignment between tax planning, investment strategy, and long-term wealth preservation objectives.

Design and maintain a tax governance framework for the family office across family trust, holding entities, and the wider group structure.

Financial

Operations & Governance

Oversee all financial operations across the family office,

including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll and reporting.

Manage cash flow, liquidity planning, and treasury activities across multiple entities and jurisdictions.

Ensure strong internal controls, financial governance, and regulatory compliance.

Lead risk management processes, including financial, operational, and regulatory risk. Investment & Treasury Support

Support investment decision-making and long-term investment strategy.

Assist with investment portfolio analysis, performance monitoring, and reporting across asset classes.

Oversee treasury flows through the family office structure to optimise for tax and distribution positions. Reporting & Stakeholder Support

Prepare clear, principal-ready tax and structuring recommendations - including options and trade-offs, not just compliance status.

Support investment and performance reporting where family office tax treatment is a material input.

Qualifications & Experience

CA or CPA qualification required.

Minimum 6+ years of experience with the majority of that time in a "hands on" environment involving tax structuring, international tax, or private client/trust tax - not general accounting or audit.

Exposure to venture investments, M&A; transactions, and private capital structures.

Demonstrated experience with multinational tax strategy, trust structures, including distribution planning and CGT considerations for private company interests.

Experience managing multi-entity structures and working with external advisors.

Skills & Attributes

High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.

Technically rigorous with the judgement to prioritise the issues that actually move outcomes for the family office.

Robust analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights.

Collaborative mindset with the confidence to partner closely with senior investment leadership.

Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
