Ongoing Casual | Potential Temp-to-Permanent Opportunity The Opportunity:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated ongoing casual forklift operator to join our client operations in Altona North, with the potential for the right person to progress from casual/temporary employment into a permanent position.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has the right attitude, strong work ethic and genuine willingness to learn and contribute to the team. While experience is important, we are particularly looking for someone who is reliable, safety-focused, punctual and takes pride in their work.

The successful candidate will work between Monday to Friday, supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy salvage yard and working both independently and as part of a team.

Hours: Between 8:00am – 4:30pm (M-F)

Location: Altona North

Base Pay Rate: $36.81 per hour

Employment Type: Ongoing Casual / Temporary with potential for Permanent Employment

About the Role

Working within an operational salvage yard, you will be responsible for safely moving vehicles and materials, maintaining the yard and supporting customers and the wider operations team.

This is a physical, outdoor and fast-paced role involving work across different terrains, including gravel, as well as inside an operational shed.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate a 5-tonne forklift to load, unload and move vehicles and materials around the yard and operational shed.
- Holding HR or MR license.
- Safely manoeuvre vehicles around the open loading pad and storage areas.
- Assist with loading, unloading and general yard operations.
- Enter stock movements and complete vehicle stocktakes using handheld technology.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe salvage vehicle storage area.
- Work safely around vehicles, forklifts, machinery and other heavy equipment.




- Follow all site safety procedures and operational instructions.
- Support the wider team with general yard duties as required.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

- Current Forklift Licence (have exp in operating in 5-tonne forklift to load) and HR or MR Driver's Licence.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, industrial yard, transport, construction or similar environment.
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use handheld technology.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.

Desirable:

- Experience with loading and unloading.
- Experience with stock control or stock maintenance.
- Automotive industry knowledge or interest.




- HR or MR Driver Licence.
- Experience operating forklifts around vehicles or heavy machinery.

Safety & Compliance Safety is a key priority in this role. You will be required to:

- Follow all WHS policies, procedures and site requirements.
- Correctly wear and maintain required PPE.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses and damaged equipment.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Work safely around moving vehicles, forklifts and heavy machinery.

Candidates will also be required to successfully complete relevant Police and Work Rights checks, as well as a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening. Random drug and alcohol testing may also be conducted onsite. Physical Requirements The successful candidate must be comfortable with:

- Lifting and carrying materials up to 20kg within safe manual-handling guidelines.
- Standing, walking, bending and kneeling for extended periods.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Working across gravel and other uneven terrain.
- Working around dust, noise, vehicles, forklifts and heavy machinery.
