This role involves creating a distinctive animation package for a startup YouTube channel, focusing on a recurring film-noir-style visual identity. The project centers on developing opening, closing, and transition animations for The Back Channel Report, utilizing a trench-coat-and-fedora silhouette from the existing logo. The animation should evoke classic noir aesthetics, featuring a flat black vector silhouette, a red-to-black gradient background, and exact use of the supplied wordmark.

The assets will help establish a memorable and cohesive brand presence for the channel, with a tight delivery timeline and the possibility of future collaboration.

Responsibilities

- Design and animate a full opening sequence, short sting, light-down transition, light-up transition, and full closing, all in a consistent film-noir style.
- Incorporate the provided trench-coat-and-fedora silhouette and wordmark exactly as supplied.
- Ensure all animations use a flat black vector silhouette with no internal character detail and a red-to-black gradient background matching the brand.
- Deliver each asset in both transparent alpha and matted-to-black versions.
- Provide assets at 1920x1080 resolution, 25 or 30fps, and create vertical 9:16 versions for the short sting and transitions.




- Collaborate to meet the end-of-August 2026 deadline and accommodate feedback for revisions as needed.

Skills And Requirements

- Proven experience in 2D animation, with a strong portfolio demonstrating stylistic versatility and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in animation software such as After Effects, Adobe Animate, or similar tools.
- Ability to interpret and execute a film-noir visual style, including silhouette animation and gradient backgrounds.
- Experience preparing assets for YouTube and social media, including both horizontal and vertical formats.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
- Availability for immediate start and commitment to deliver all assets by the specified deadline.
- Familiarity with brand guidelines and working with supplied logos and wordmarks.
