Sylligence is a Queensland-based education startup building a platform for secondary students. We launched in February 2026 and already have thousands of users, with schools coming on board.
The opportunity
You’ll work directly with the founders to develop new features, resolve bugs and improve a live platform used by real students.
This isn’t a role where you spend months waiting for your work to matter. You’ll take clearly scoped problems from idea to tested, production-ready code, with successful changes reaching users quickly.
You’ll work across
- React and TypeScript
- Supabase and PostgreSQL
- Deno Edge Functions
- AI model and API integrations
- Automated testing and deployment workflows
Who we’re looking for You may be studying Software Engineering or Computer Science, be a recent graduate, or have equivalent practical experience.
More importantly, you:
- Have built and shipped real web applications or substantial personal projects.
- Can work across frontend and backend development.
- Use AI development tools effectively while checking and understanding their output.
- Learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
- Can investigate a bug without needing every step explained.
- Turn clear requirements into reliable, production-ready code.
- Balance development speed with maintainability, testing and student safety.
- Communicate clearly when requirements are ambiguous or something goes wrong.
- Take ownership of your work from implementation through verification.
Experience with every part of our stack isn’t required. We care more about evidence that you can learn, build and deliver.
What you’ll get
- Meaningful equity vested over the first year, plus a competitive salary on an accelerated timeline.
- Flexible remote work around university or other commitments.
- Direct mentorship and collaboration with the co-founder and CTO.
- Meaningful responsibility across a live education product.
- The opportunity to grow into Sylligence’s lead hands-on developer.
Role details
- Remote within Australia.
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week initially.
- Versatile working hours.
- Paid part-time position.
- The recruitment process may include a short paid technical task.
To apply, send us your résumé, GitHub or portfolio, weekly availability, and an example of something you’ve built.
