About the role

Smokey Mary BBQ is seeking an experienced Full Time Chef to join our kitchen team in Narraweena, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a dynamic hospitality environment specialising in authentic barbecue cuisine. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play an essential role in delivering consistently high-quality dishes that keep our customers coming back, whilst maintaining the highest standards of food preparation, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

Preparing, cooking and plating a variety of barbecue dishes according to established recipes and quality standards

Managing food stations and ensuring efficient workflow during service periods

Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage and rotation of ingredients

Following food safety and hygiene protocols at all times to ensure compliance with health regulations

Collaborating with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment

Monitoring stock levels and assisting with inventory management and ordering

Adapting to menu changes and special requests whilst maintaining quality standards

Supporting junior kitchen staff and contributing to a positive team environment

Maintaining equipment in good working order and reporting any maintenance issues

What we're looking for

Proven experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment

Strong knowledge of barbecue cooking techniques and food preparation methods

Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and kitchen procedures





Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail

Strong communication and teamwork skills with a collaborative approach

Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment

Flexibility with shift patterns, including potential weekend and public holiday work A passion for delivering exceptional food and exceptional customer experiences

Current Food Safety Supervisor or equivalent certification (or willingness to obtain)

Experience in barbecue or wood-fired cooking is highly desirable
