The Opportunity:

Are you a recent Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance graduate looking to build a strong foundation for your accounting career?

Or are you in your final year of study and keen to gain meaningful, hands-on experience while completing your degree?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the finance team of a highly successful multinational manufacturing organisation in a newly created Graduate Accountant role. You’ll work alongside experienced finance professionals who are genuinely invested in your development, giving you the opportunity to build practical accounting skills while gaining exposure to the broader commercial side of the business.

The role is part-time, with a minimum commitment of two days per week in the office. There is also the opportunity to work additional hours, and potentially full-time during university semester breaks, subject to your study commitments.

About the Company:

Our client is a highly successful family-owned multinational organisation with a proud history of manufacturing specialised machinery in Australia for more than 50 years.

With operations and customers across more than 100 countries, the organisation is recognised globally as an innovative leader in its field. The Australian and New Zealand operation is well established, but continues to grow, creating an excellent environment for someone at the beginning of their accounting career to learn, contribute and develop.

About the Role:

This is more than a traditional graduate accounting position. Designed as a structured growth role, you’ll gain hands-on experience across core accounting functions while progressively developing your skills in management accounting, inventory, financial reporting and analysis.

Working closely with experienced members of the finance team, you’ll have the opportunity to understand how finance supports a complex manufacturing business and, over time, take on greater responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.

Your responsibilities will include

Financial Operations & Transactional Support

- Perform daily bank reconciliations and assist with weekly and monthly payment runs.
- Assist with the end-to-end processing of weekly payroll and maintain alignment with the time-recording system (Kronos).
- Process employee expense claims and petty cash, and complete credit card reconciliations across Australian and New Zealand accounts.
- Provide operational support to Accounts Payable, including matching invoices against purchase orders and receiving dockets.

Core Accounting & Month-End Support

- Prepare General Ledger reconciliations and maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
- Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with statutory compliance activities, including the preparation of draft BAS and FBT returns under supervision.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.

Management Accounting, Inventory & Analysis — Your Growth Pathway As you develop your core accounting skills, you’ll also gain exposure to:

- Inventory control, Work in Progress (WIP) tracking and job costing within a complex manufacturing environment.
- Monthly financial and operational reporting for the Executive and Leadership teams.
- Data-driven insights and variance analysis across projects, functions and facilities.
- Budget preparation and quarterly forecasting.
- Finance systems, technology and process improvement initiatives.

About You: You don’t need years of experience — we’re looking for someone with the right attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn.

You will ideally be

- A recent graduate or final-year student studying Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance.
- Analytical, organised and highly attentive to detail.

- Proactive and genuinely interested in developing your accounting career.
- A team player who enjoys collaborating with others.
- A confident communicator who can build positive working relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite.
- Interested in finance systems, technology and process improvement. Exposure to ERP systems will be highly regarded.
- Someone who demonstrates integrity, professionalism and discretion.
- Flexible, resilient and able to bring a positive sense of humour to the workplace.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is keen to learn, asks questions and wants to understand not just what needs to be done, but why. Why Join?

This is an opportunity to build your career in an organisation where your development will be taken seriously.

You’ll benefit from

- Broad exposure across accounting, finance and commercial activities.
- Structured learning through clear processes, regular training and hands-on experience.
- Mentoring and support from experienced finance professionals.
- Career progression as your knowledge, skills and confidence develop.
- Exposure to technology and transformation, including finance systems and business improvement initiatives.
- A supportive and collaborative team culture where you can learn and contribute.
- Flexible, study-friendly hours designed to work around your university timetable.
- The opportunity to increase your hours, including full time work during semester breaks where practical.
- Competitive remuneration based on your experience and qualifications.
