About the Role
We are seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer (based in Australia with full working rights) to join our growing team at Sigma Power Services. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on field experience and develop a strong foundation in high-voltage systems, electrical testing, and commissioning.
This role is ideal for a recent electrical engineering graduate who is passionate about power systems, protection, and practical fieldwork. You will be mentored by experienced engineers and technicians as you learn to test, commission, and troubleshoot critical electrical components used in substations and industrial installations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist with the testing and commissioning of high-voltage electrical components including:
- Protection relays
- Circuit breakers,
- Instrument transformers (CTs/VTs/CVTs),
- Energy Meters
- Power Transformers
- Condition Monitoring
- Power Cables
- Rotating Machines and more
- Support preparation and review of electrical schematics, protection logic diagrams, and test plans
- Operate advanced test equipment (e.g. Omicron, Megger) under supervision
- Participate in on-site commissioning activities at substations and industrial facilities
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to analyse results and troubleshoot issues
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, test reports, and compliance records
- Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a strong HSE culture on site
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Electrical Engineering (recently completed)
- Must be based in Australia with full working rights
- Familiarity with electrical networks and a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles
- Basic Understanding of electrical safety procedures.
- Genuine interest in power systems, high-voltage equipment, and practical, hands-on work
- Willingness to travel and work in office across WA (FIFO/DIDO may be required)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Desirable
- Internship or project experience related to power systems or electrical infrastructure
- Current WA Driver’s Licence (or ability to obtain)
- White Card (or willingness to obtain)
