The Role

We are looking to recruit a technically astute engineering professional with experience in the renewable market to support the growth of the our businesses. The candidate will be responsible for leading grid-related activities and providing technical support to the broader business through the project lifecycle. The candidate will have a proven experience of working with relevant stakeholders, and have the capability and credibility to manage the relationship from technical and grid connection perspective with projects clients, AEMO, TNSP, DNSP, Inverter OEMs, BoP contractors, and external consultants.

The role integrates with team members in development, procurement, project delivery, engineering, controls, and construction to put together complex connection solution, optimized plant design, and techno-economic analysis.The candidate will be able to contribute to engineering team on the first day. It will be a requirement to hit the ground running and to be comfortable operating at a rapid pace at times with levels of ambiguity and the pressure of deadlines.

We expect the successful candidate to have:





- Lead all aspects related to power system network connection including the connection application and connection agreement negotiations, and support the teams with optimisation from technical and financial perspective to financial close and beyond
- Support the team during the early-development phase of projects in preliminary design and network connection strategy
- Engage in commercial and technical grid aspects of EPC, eBoP, and O&M; tenders, including the selection of key inverter and PPC equipment and negotiation of contracts
- Connection Process: Lead the connection process, including managing the TNSP/DNSP, AEMO and technical consultants from Connection Enquiry to obtaining 5.3.4/5.3.9
- Construction: Manage R1, Registration, Hold Point testing and R2 compliance.
- Operation: Support the team in ongoing compliance and performance reviews of operational assets.
- Support the business development and procurement teams with technical or technical-economic analysis for tenders
- Support the project delivery teams during the basic and detailed design phases, construction and commissioning
- Ensure technical queries are correctly assessed and responded to
- Perform engineering tasks and implement engineering best practices
- Assist in reviewing for key engineering deliverables performed by third parties consultant and contractor

Essential competencies:

- a minimum of 8 years industry experience with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. This experience must be related to working on grid-scale renewable energy projects in Australia,



with emphasis placed on grid connection experience within the NEM or WEM.
- Excellent understanding of Australia power system engineering
- Contract and project management skills (including budgeting, engineering capex management) experience will be advantageous
- Fundamental understanding of NER chapter 5 requirements
- Experience and knowledge of relevant software programmes such as PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory, Comsol & ANSYS
- Understanding of Transmission & Distribution (T&D;) network
- Understanding of connection requirements for all electrical equipment in the context of an energy storage and renewable energy installation, operation and maintenance.
- Fluent in Microsoft office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project
- High quality education (bachelor’s or master’s degree) in engineering, preferably electrical engineering or similar.
- A genuine passion in clean energy and our social and environmental mission
- An understanding of core legal concepts, particularly those relating to contracts for the construction and management of renewable energy projects.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical results and implications
- Strong organisation skills, team player and good attention to detail
- Results oriented who is not scared of taking accountability
- Desire to work in a rapid moving, high pressure and entrepreneurial environment
- Eligibility to work in Australia – visa sponsorship is not offered

Desirable competencies:

- Knowledge of either the US and / or European energy landscapes will be advantageous
- Previous working experience with BESS systems, PV Solar and onshore wind greater than 50MW
- Ability to travel to project sites or HQ in Sydney and ChinaExperience working on transmission connected assets / projects at voltage levels of 66kV and above.
