Are you a practical, hands-on person who enjoys fixing things, solving problems and keeping spaces safe and looking their best?
MindChamps Early Learning & PreSchool is looking for a reliable Maintenance Officer / Handyperson to support our early learning centres. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys a role with variety.
About the role
You will help keep our centres safe, clean, well-maintained and welcoming for children, families and staff. From small repairs to regular inspections, you will play an important role in making sure our environments are ready for children to learn, play and thrive.
What you’ll do
- Complete general maintenance, minor repairs, painting, basic plumbing, basic electrical work and carpentry
- Carry out regular safety and maintenance checks
- Coordinate contractors and suppliers when needed
- Keep simple records of work completed and purchases
- Assist with centre set-up, pack-up and general practical support
- Travel between MindChamps centre locations as required
About you
You will be someone who is:
- Experienced in maintenance, handyperson work or a similar practical role
- Confident with tools and general repairs
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently
- A valuable problem-solver with a positive attitude
- Friendly, professional and easy to work with
- Physically able to complete hands-on tasks, including lifting and outdoor work
- A current driver’s licence holder with reliable transport
- Able to hold a Working With Children Check, or willing to obtain one
Experience in childcare,
schools or community environments would be highly regarded but is not essential.
Hours of work
This role will require Saturday works when required for any major work that needs to be completed for children to not be around. Your working days will still be 5 on these weeks.
