Mackay Electrical Fitters – ready for a permanent Brisbane-based opportunity?

We are seeking an experienced Hazardous Area Electrical Fitter to join a well-established specialist electrical engineering and motor repair workshop in Brisbane.

This opportunity would suit a Mackay-based tradesperson looking to move away from site-based or rostered work and into a permanent Monday-to-Friday workshop position, while continuing to use their hazardous-area and heavy industrial electrical experience.

About the Role Working within a specialist electrical workshop, you will be involved in the overhaul, repair and refurbishment of industrial electrical equipment, including AC/DC motors, hazardous-area motors, traction motors, pumps and associated rotating equipment.

Your responsibilities will include

- Overhaul and repair of AC and DC electric motors
- Overhaul and repair of hazardous-area motors and equipment
- Overhaul and rebuilding of traction motors
- Electrical and mechanical fault finding
- Stripping, inspecting and assessing electric motors
- Diagnosing faults and identifying required repairs
- Repair and refurbishment of motors and rotating equipment
- Testing repaired electrical equipment
- Working independently to complete repairs
- Maintaining high safety and quality standards
- Supporting and sharing technical knowledge with apprentices and other team members

Depending on your experience, you may also be involved in:




- AC/DC motor rewinding
- Armature and rotor rewinding
- Random round wire winding
- Formed-coil winding

About You To be considered, you must have:

- Electrical Fitter trade qualification/licence
- Current Hazardous Area qualification/licence
- AC and/or DC motor experience
- Motor overhaul and repair experience
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong safety and quality focus
- Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude

Experience with traction motors, motor rewinding, armatures, rotors, pumps or rotating equipment will be highly regarded.
