Position Type: Fixed-Term Full-Time, October 2026 – November 2027 (9 day fortnight, 36.25 hours/week)

Salary Range: LGO7 ($113,019 - $119,946 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About The Role

As the Head Councillor Support, you will lead the Mayor and Councillors' Office, ensuring Townsville's elected representatives are supported with high-quality advice, effective coordination and strong stakeholder engagement. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Mayor and Councillors, you'll play a key role in connecting Council's strategic priorities with community needs, building productive relationships across the organisation and externally, and leading a customer-focused team that helps deliver positive outcomes for the people of Townsville. This is a unique leadership prospect to work at the heart of local government, influencing decision-making, fostering collaboration, and supporting the successful delivery of Council's vision and priorities.

About You

You are a collaborative and politically astute leader with experience operating in complex, fast-paced environments where competing priorities are the norm. You bring exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, a strong understanding of stakeholder and community interests, and the ability to provide sound advice, influence outcomes and navigate sensitive issues with confidence. With experience leading high-performing teams and fostering a positive, customer-focused culture, you are committed to delivering results,



building strong partnerships and supporting elected representatives to achieve meaningful outcomes for the community.

Qualification in business, management, politics, community services or a related field, or equivalent experience, will be highly regarded.

- The Council contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings subject to the employee contributing a minimum of 6% of their ordinary time earnings.
