Join New Street Service, a specialised NSW health therapeutic service in SWSLHD for young people aged 10 to 17 years who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours and their families. As a Senior Counsellor, you will play a vital role in delivering expert therapeutic interventions through comprehensive psychosocial assessment, advanced counselling, and family-focused interventions.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, child protection agencies, police, Aboriginal services and community partners to ensure coordinated, evidence-based responses that place the needs of children and families at the centre of care.A key aspect of this position is championing culturally safe and responsive practice for Aboriginal children, families and communities. You will contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical leadership, workforce education and interagency training, helping to strengthen the effectiveness and reach of the New Street Service.

Selection Criteria To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

- Relevant qualification in Bachelor of Social Work which provides eligibility for membership to Australian Association of Social Workers or Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advanced knowledge and skills in counselling services to individuals, and families in the context of child sexual assault, trauma, violence and abuse.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in managing intergenerational trauma, child sexual abuse and the principles of family focussed intervention, with the ability to engage with young people who have sexually harmed and with their families, including Aboriginal children and families.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P. Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
