About MSC
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Australia is a global leader in transportation and logistics. Our vision is to open up a world of opportunities for customers by continually investing in stable, robust and sustainable shipping and logistics solutions.
The Opportunity
Are you a people-focused HR professional after a sea-change?
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Advisor or Human Resouces Partner, skilled in employment relations, to join our team at MSC Australia. Based in our Fremantle Head Office located near Fremantle Port, this is a permanent full-time position part of the National Human Resources Department, reporting to the Human Resources Manager, and supporting our office-based Managers and Employees Australia-wide.
The Human Resources Advisor is a key member of our HR team, with a focus on HR/ER case management and building manager capability through robust human resources and employment relations advice and guidance. This role will be responsible for conducting workplace investigations, mediations, and general grievance handling, alongside contributing to and/or leading HR projects focused on process improvements and ongoing compliance. This position will also assist with Workplace Health and Safety, including reporting, injury management, projects, development and compliance.
As with most HR roles, no two days are the same - but this is even more so in the world of global shipping! One day you could be hosting training across Australia and New Zealand, the next designing a new policy/procedure, conducting a workplace investigation, detailed analysis/research on an emerging topic, or working closely with a department on tailored team development.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the employee experience and bring out the best in others, a proactive approach to problem-solving, be comfortable with change, and a keen interest in staying current with employment law and HR best practice. Prior experience within Health and Safety and/or Injury Management is highly beneficial but not required, however an interest in this space would be ideal.
If you are an HR professional looking for a role where you can make a significant impact, grow your career, and can 'roll with the tides' of global shipping - we encourage you to apply.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- HR case management including workplace investigations.
- Providing assistance, support, and guidance to leaders and employees on policies, procedures, the enterprise agreement, legislation, contract terms, etc.
- Policy and Procedure updates and/or creation.
- Contribute to and/or lead HR and HSE projects.
- HR and HSE reviews/audits, including process mapping and redesign.
- Internal HR and HSE documentation review, consultation and creation.
- Contribute to digitalisation of HR and HSE through system developments and/or introduction.
- Contribute to National HR Strategy, and assist in compliance with the global strategy.
- HR and HSE data analytics and research.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Tertiary qualification/s in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Law, Psychology, Occupational Health and Safety, or similar areas.
- Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI) membership is highly desirable.
- Evidence-based approach to HR through case law, studies, etc and appropriate research.
- Proactive approach to work with a focus on problem-solving, including spotting opportunities to add value, or prevent issues before they arise.
- Experience with competing priorities.
- Passion for enhancing the employee experience.
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across different employee management levels.
