ATS Group is a growing commercial HVAC, refrigeration and BMS contractor based in Brisbane. We work across commercial, supermarket, industrial and controlled-setting sites throughout South East Queensland.

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Trade Assistant to join our team and carry out HVAC hygiene, cleaning, filter replacement, corrosion treatment, minor duct repairs, minor HVAC maintenance checks and general maintenance works.

This role would suit someone with experience in trade assisting, HVAC, sheet metal, ductwork, commercial cleaning, restoration, facilities maintenance, labouring, or someone practical who is keen to build a long-term career in the HVAC industry.

The role

You will be responsible for completing allocated HVAC hygiene, cleaning, maintenance and minor remedial works across commercial sites. You will be expected to manage and complete many of these works independently, with support from our HVAC technicians and supervisors available where required.

Works will include

- Filter replacement and filter condition reporting
- Cleaning AHUs, FCUs, return air plenums, grilles and ductwork
- Coil cleaning, drain pan cleaning and condensate drain flushing
- Assisting with duct hygiene inspections and duct cleaning works
- Minor HVAC maintenance and visual condition checks
- Checking filters, coils, drain pans and condensate drains for condition, blockages or signs of deterioration
- Basic visual checks of belts, fans and accessible mechanical components
- Identifying and reporting HVAC defects or maintenance issues requiring further attention
- Corrosion treatment to AHUs, drain pans, casing, frames and associated HVAC equipment
- Minor duct repairs, patching and sealing works




- Assisting with sheet metal repairs and modifications where required
- Basic waterproofing, sealing and protective coating works
- Applying approved cleaning chemicals, coatings, sealants and corrosion treatments as directed
- Setting up access equipment, tools, vacuums, PPE and containment where required
- Taking before and after photos and completing basic job documentation
- Working safely around mechanical plant, rooftops, plant rooms and commercial sites

This role is designed to carry out dedicated HVAC hygiene, minor maintenance and remedial works, while identifying and reporting any issues that require a licensed HVAC technician. What we are looking for The right person will be:
- Reliable, practical and willing to learn
- Able to work independently and take ownership of allocated jobs
- Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
- Comfortable working in plant rooms, roof areas and commercial sites
- Able to follow instructions, SWMS/JSA requirements and site procedures
- Detail-focused, especially with cleaning quality, sealing/patching works and photo documentation
- Safety-conscious around chemicals, dust, mould, fans, filters and mechanical equipment
- Able to work well with technicians, supervisors and clients
- Willing to complete training and develop into a more specialised HVAC hygiene and maintenance role

Essential requirements
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- White Card




- Ability to pass site inductions and follow safety procedures
- Good communication and attention to detail
- Ability to complete basic job completion reports, site photos and service documentation accurately
- Full working rights in Australia

Highly regarded but not essential
- HVAC or refrigeration trade assistant experience
- Sheet metal or ductwork experience
- Duct cleaning or air conditioning hygiene experience
- Commercial cleaning, restoration or mould remediation experience
- Experience with minor patching, sealing, waterproofing, coatings or corrosion treatment
- Working at Heights
- EWP ticket
- First Aid
- Chemical handling / SDS training
- Asbestos awareness
- Certificate II in Air Conditioning Hygiene
- NADCA training or HVAC hygiene experience
