Delivery Manager | Canberra | On-site | Federal Government ICT Portfolio

PALAS Consulting is seeking experienced Delivery Managers for a significant Federal Government ICT portfolio, commencing October 2026. This is a labour hire engagement, contracted for 12 months with two further 12-month extension options, supporting delivery and operational teams across a large information management and technology division.

The roles suit delivery practitioners who can move between business-as-usual coordination and structured program delivery, working alongside project sponsors, product owners, operational leads and technical teams to keep delivery plans, risks and reporting on track. You will work across a mixed portfolio of operational ICT functions and Capital Budget funded programs, so the ability to adapt to shifting priorities matters as much as methodology.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate business-as-usual delivery activities, keeping operational work planned, prioritised and progressed against business needs.
- Manage operational dependencies, risks, issues and competing priorities across technical teams, business areas and vendors.
- Maintain visibility of delivery status, milestones and risks to support governance and reporting requirements.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of ICT programs against agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality, where assigned to program delivery.
- Support the transition of project outcomes into business-as-usual operations, including handover planning and operational readiness.
- Build stakeholder relationships that support transparent communication, timely escalation and delivery of agreed outcomes.

Required Experience

- Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience delivering and managing ICT functions and programs within government or large enterprise environments.




- Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary delivery teams using waterfall, agile and hybrid delivery approaches.
- Proven ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues and dependencies to achieve delivery outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring and coaching technical and non-technical teams. Experience using project delivery and reporting tools and related platforms.
- Current AGSVA security clearance.

Desirable

- Experience supporting change activities, including helping teams understand new processes, systems or ways of working.
- Understanding of ICT systems and technology delivery, and how technical teams work together to deliver business outcomes.
- Experience delivering agile projects within PRINCE2 or equivalent governance frameworks.
- Experience working with vendors or delivery partners to monitor progress and keep delivery on track.
- Relevant tertiary qualification, or accreditation such as PRINCE2, Agile, PMP, MSP or CSM.

Location and Working Arrangements

This role is Canberra based and full time on-site, five days per week. Remote and interstate candidates will not be considered. Commencement is expected from 1 October 2026.
