About the role
At Sydney Water, we're delivering one of Australia's largest infrastructure investment programs, with a significant multi-billion-dollar investment over the next decade to support population growth, renew critical assets, strengthen resilience, and improve environmental outcomes.
This is a rare opportunity to work alongside the Executive General Manager (EGM), Infrastructure Delivery, supporting the leadership of a once-in-a-generation infrastructure program that will help shape Greater Sydney for decades to come.
This is not a traditional administrative support role.
As the Executive Assistant to the EGM, Infrastructure Delivery, you will act as a strategic partner who helps maximise the effectiveness of the EGM and leadership team. You will proactively manage priorities, anticipate challenges, coordinate critical business activities, and ensure the EGM's time, focus, and effort are directed toward the most key strategic outcomes.
You will operate at the centre of the Infrastructure Delivery leadership team, providing executive coordination across governance activities, major business priorities, Board and Executive reporting, stakeholder engagement, and leadership team operations.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, judgement and discretion, you will become a trusted extension of the EGM, helping drive alignment, accountability and execution across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Support & Strategic Partnership - you will work closely with the Executive General Manager to maximise effectiveness, manage competing priorities and ensure focus remains on strategic business outcomes.
Governance & Leadership Coordination - including Board and Committee processes, including papers, submissions and supporting documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Operational Excellence - acting as a central point of coordination between the Executive General Manager, leadership team and broader organisation, building strong relationships and ensuring seamless business operations.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by enabling executive success,
supporting strategic business priorities and contributing to the effective delivery of organisational outcomes.
About you
You are an experienced Executive Assistant who has operated successfully in a complex, quick-paced environment supporting senior executives.
Most importantly, you understand that great executive support goes beyond scheduling meetings and managing inboxes. You think strategically, anticipate needs, solve problems, influence outcomes, and build trusted relationships.
You bring
- Significant experience supporting senior executives in a large, complex organisation.
- A proven ability to act as a trusted business partner.
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across diverse groups.
- Experience coordinating Executive, Board or governance processes.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Outstanding written communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level documents, reports and presentations.
- High levels of initiative, judgement and professional maturity.
- Advanced Microsoft 365 and digital workplace capability.
- Diploma in Management or Business Administration and/or equivalent level of skills and knowledge gained from practical experience in a similar role.
