This is a newly created position due to an internal promotion, offering the successful candidate significant long-term career progression opportunities.

About the Role

This role will see you apply your legal knowledge and liability expertise in an underwriting environment, managing a portfolio of complex Casualty claims with a particular focus on Construction Liability.

Key responsibilities will include

- Managing Casualty claims from initial notification through to resolution, with a strong focus on Construction Liability, including personal injury and product liability
- Investigating claims, interpreting policy coverage, assessing liability and negotiating settlements
- Working closely with Solicitors, Loss Adjusters, Brokers, Underwriters and other key stakeholders
- Providing technical advice and claims insights to Underwriters to support sound underwriting decisions
- Building strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders
- Contributing to a high-performing, collaborative claims and underwriting environment

About You We are interested in speaking with lawyers who have a strong interest in insurance, liability and claims and are looking to take their career in a different direction.

You will ideally have

- A Bachelor of Law degree with 2-3 years' experience managing Casualty/Liability claims, including Personal Injury or Property Damage
- Experience in defendant insurance litigation or liability matters, with lawyers looking to transition into an in-house insurance role strongly encouraged to apply
- A completed Diploma in Legal Practice will be highly regarded
- Strong understanding of liability, coverage and claims principles
- A commercially minded approach with the ability to assess complex issues and make sound decisions
