ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.

Working closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, helping to maintain food quality, consistency, presentation and efficient service.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Chef looking to take the next step in their career and develop their kitchen leadership skills within a busy, high-volume hospitality and entertainment venue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.
- Support the Head Chef and senior kitchen team with the smooth running of daily kitchen operations.
- Assist in leading the kitchen team during preparation and service periods.
- Ensure food quality, presentation and portioning consistently meet Swing City standards.
- Coordinate food preparation and service to ensure meals are delivered efficiently and within expected service times.
- Help train, support and guide junior chefs, cooks and kitchen hands.




- Ensure cleaning duties and kitchen procedures are completed to the required standard.
- Maintain clean, safe and hygienic kitchens, fridges, storerooms and service areas.
- Assist with stocktake, ordering and stock management as required.
- Maintain effective portion control, stock rotation and stock replenishment.
- Help minimise food waste and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Ensure food safety procedures and standards are consistently followed across the kitchen.
- Assist with functions, events and high-volume service periods as required.
- Follow all Swing City operational, food safety and workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Promptly report hazards, incidents and injuries and contribute to maintaining a safe workplace.
- Work collaboratively with the broader venue team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

- Chef trade qualifications.
- Previous experience as a Chef, Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a quick-paced commercial kitchen.
- Experience working in a high-volume bistro, restaurant, pub, club, hotel or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, presentation and portion control.
- Strong food safety knowledge and a commitment to maintaining high kitchen standards.
- Current Food Safety Certification.
- Good organisational, communication and time-management skills.
- The ability to remain calm, organised and focused during busy service periods.
- The confidence to provide direction and support to junior kitchen team members.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to work alongside the team.
- A strong focus on consistency, quality and customer satisfaction.
- A positive attitude and genuine interest in developing your kitchen leadership skills.
