Casual Kitchen Hand / Prep Cook

Downs Hotel – Kitchen Team We are seeking a reliable, motivated Casual Kitchen Hand / Prep Cook to join our busy kitchen team at the Downs Hotel!

This is a key daytime role that keeps our kitchen humming through morning prep and lunch service.

Shift Details & Availability Required

- Primary Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM / 3:00 PM
- Availability: Must have full daytime availability during standard school/business hours (Note: Not suitable for high school students due to daytime scheduling).
- Bonus Hours: Opportunity for additional evening and weekend shifts for the right candidate looking for extra hours!

Key Responsibilities

- Morning Delivery & Receiving: Assisting with incoming supplier stock, temp checks, and walk-in stock rotation.
- Kitchen Prep: Assisting the Head Chef and line cooks with daily prep (vegetable prep, sauce portioning,



line setup).
- Dish Pit Operations: Managing the dish pit during peak lunch service to ensure pans, equipment, and crockery rotate smoothly.
- Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and sanitation in compliance with food safety guidelines.

What We Are Looking For

- Previous experience in a fast-paced pub or restaurant kitchen preferred (but willingness to learn and work hard is essential!).
- Punctual, reliable.
- Robust communication skills and a team-first attitude.
- Current rights to work in Australia.
