CP0101 - Casual Pool – Kitchenhand

Join our casual hospitality team and help deliver memorable events across Mackay’s premier venues.

Mackay Regional Council is creating a casual pool of reliable, team-focused Kitchenhands to support catering operations across the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre (MECC) and BB Print Stadium. If you enjoy practical, hands-on work, thrive in a busy hospitality environment and take pride in supporting a team to deliver great service, we’d love to hear from you.

About this chance

As a casual Kitchenhand, you will play an important role behind the scenes, supporting chefs and catering teams with the smooth preparation and delivery of food services for events, functions and day-to-day operations. This may include washing dishes, basic food preparation, general kitchen support and maintaining clean, safe and organised work areas.

Roster and availability

This casual pool supports an any 5 of 7 roster, with shifts available across days, nights and weekends depending on venue and event requirements. Availability for day shifts, particularly 7:00am to 3:00pm, will be highly regarded.

What you’ll be doing

- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation and kitchen duties.
- Washing dishes, cleaning work areas and maintaining kitchen hygiene standards.
- Supporting catering operations at the MECC and BB Print Stadium.
- Helping with event and function preparation, service support and pack-down as required.
- Working collaboratively with chefs, supervisors and hospitality team members.
- Contributing to a safe, organised and efficient kitchen environment.

About you We’re looking for motivated people who bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine interest in hospitality.



You will be reliable, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment where everyone pitches in to get the job done.
- A passion for hospitality and supporting quality food service.
- A team-oriented, team-focused approach to work.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to assist where needed.
- The ability to follow direction and work efficiently during busy periods.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
- Availability to work across a flexible roster, including days, nights and weekends.

Desirable
- Previous kitchenhand, catering or hospitality experience.
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence, or interstate equivalent.
- Food safety or hospitality-related training.
